Get Your Tickets HERE SOURCE We love pandas, and we love McFly, so when WWF invited us down to London's Royal Festival Hall on Saturday evening to watch McFly perform a very special gig while dressed as pandas, what could we say but HELL YEAH?
Tom, Harry, Danny and Dougie were all buttoned up in their black-and-white onesies to support WWF's Earth Hour, the world's biggest switch off, which was encouraging everyone to "do it in the dark" (ooer) for one hour to protect the planet. We popped backstage to chat with the boys before the show, and were treated to the very-nice sight of Harry Judd doing pull-ups. When Tom then cheekily reached over for a squeeze of his guns, Harry told us, "They're little at the moment, because I'm doing the marathon." In case any of you are wondering, they really aren't little. They are *fans self* nice. It's not the first time the band have donned panda onesies – earlier this month, they did theHarlem Shake as pandas! So, how does it feel to be a panda? "I keep sitting on my tail!" Danny laughed, while Dougie tried to convince us that he was naked underneath his. After the acoustic performance, which the boys did on a candlelit stage, all four stripped off and signed their (now a bit sweaty) panda onesies and handed them over to the WWF ladies to auction off. Unfortunately, we were told that the half-empty packet of chewing gum and £3.52 we had in our bag was not enough to snag one. Bummer! As well as channeling their inner bamboo-loving bear, the McFly foursome are currently in the middle of a hectic schedule of rehearsals for their upcoming UK tour, The Best Of McFly, which will kick off on 19 April. They've also been working on new stuff in New York and LA (get them!) and recording a tune they wrote for One Direction over in Dublin. Somehow, Harry is also finding time to train for and run the London Marathon and the Tough Mudder for Teenage Cancer Trust and Eyes Alight (you can sponsor him by texting HARRY to 70300). Makes us feel tired just imagining it. Perhaps we'll just go and quietly think about Harry's guns instead In Case you missed McFly's acoustic performance on Earth Ho HUGE thanks to poyntersource for posting! The environment charity will this weekend be streaming live coverage of landmarks turning off their lights for Earth Hour, its annual campaign, supported by McFlyWhat is it?
WWF has been promoting its annual event, Earth Hour, in which people are encouraged to turn off their non-essential lights for an hour. The charity will be streaming live coverage from landmarks and communities that are taking part in the event on its dedicated microsite. It all starts at 8.30pm on 23 March. What’s McFly got to do with it? The boyband McFly, Earth Hour ambassadors, are also expected to do an unplugged gig to support the campaign on Saturday. The charity encouraged the public to ‘like’ its Earth Hour Facebook page in the run-up to the event and said the band would do something “fun in the dark” for Earth Hour dressed in panda onesies if it achieved 10,000 likes. By Thursday the page had already received 78,964 likes. Anything else? Celebrities including the model Miranda Kerr have been encouraging people to upload videos to YouTube that include a pledge, with the line: ‘I will if you will…’. Kerr said she would conduct, film and upload a yoga class if more than 500 people also uploaded pledges. There can’t be more, can there? The charity has uploaded a list of 60 things they suggest people do during Earth Hour, including listening to an audio book of Just So stories recorded exclusively for the campaign by celebrities including Miranda Richardson. WWF Wildlife Mobile is also offering an hour of free calls to UK landlines and mobiles as part of the campaign. Third Sector verdict: This campaign appeals to millions each year because of its simplicity: help the environment by turning off your lights for just one hour. The association with McFly means that the campaign reaches a young audience, and the audio books mean adults can involve small children and get them thinking about the environment from a young age.
